Chrysanths - Yay, Human - Digital EP (2025)
Release Date: 3rd September 2025 (320k bit rate; 35MB)
Following on almost a year from the release of Chrysanths’ exquisite debut long player Leave No Shadow, Emily Scott follows up with the EP Yay, Human centred around the final track of the album Fleet.
The spellbinding original album closer heads up a 4 strong collection, with the accompanying 3 tracks being reworked examples of album tracks Rising, Repose and of course, Fleet itself. Songs that were originally embedded within the richest of string arrangements are now presented in another sphere altogether.
Completely stripped of the 12 strong string ensemble that appeared on the album, the piano becomes electric and the vocals more present than ever. We are now invited into the most intimate of spaces, the songs suddenly rediscovered, pushing into the corners and expanding their reach. The arresting musicality and chordal movements encompassing endless intricacy and subtlety, become the new centre. The vocal harmonies constantly reward with their undulation and flourish and from this new base the songs find yet another way of existing, rising and effortlessly gliding until we are completely within them, surrounded and momentarily stilled.
The three alternative tracks were recorded at Emily Scott’s house and Pumkinfield; mixed and mastered by fellow Modern Studies’ musician Pete Harvey. Owen Curtis Williams plays the drums.
