Making A Purchase Making a purchase should (if we've done our job right) be an exercise in simplicity: browse our store, throwing items from our catalogue into your shopping cart with wild abandon. Every time you click 'Buy Now', you'll be temporarily shown your shopping basket before being returned, unscathed, to continue shopping.
You can buy multiple copies of CDs, T-Shirts, Bags or Vinyl but can only purchase ONE digital download product - this seems perfectly logical to us but we feel duty bound to point it out to you for the sake of any renegade morons patrolling the hinterlands of our fanbase. When purchasing individual downloads, just click the tracks you want to purchase and they will be lumped together as one bundle of tracks when you reach the checkout. If you want to change the individual downloads you've selected, just remove them all from your basket and choose again. After you've finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for the few details that we need to complete your order.
We accept credit/debit card payments as well as Paypal. If you are shopping from North America or anywhere else, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency - we accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. We've opted to keep our payment methods strictly online now (this is the 21st century after all) although we pride ourselves in being the securest of the secure - please read our exhilarating, page-turning sections on Credit Card Security and Privacy further down this page.
We'll send you an order confirmation once we take receipt of your order although it should be noted that this does not indicate a contract exists between us; we'll indicate acceptance of your order, and seal the deal with a virtual handshake, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in case a spectacularly rare mistake has been made in pricing, or we've inadvertently under-priced goods or we're no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we'll always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable and if an item is no longer in stock we'll contact you to explain why and discuss alternatives. We'll also send you an invoice to let you know that we've shipped your goods.
We want to try and make the Checkout process as clear as possible too, especially with the addition of VAT and Shipping Charges. All the goods that you buy will be placed in your basket and shown before the addition of VAT - once the VAT is added on, it should correspond with the price advertised in the shop. Shipping charges will not be added to your order until you take your basket to the checkout and tell us where you live - these shipping charges will also have VAT added to them if you live in the UK or an EC member state. Why? See 'Tax Charges' below...
Shipping And Handling Chemikal Underground don't want to charge you extortionate amounts of money for postage and packing and also want to ensure that our method of calculating shipping charges is transparent and easy to understand. We're not in the business of heavily marking up postage and want you to feel comfortable that any additonal shipping charges are there to accurately cover our postage and packing charges.
As such, we've decided to base our shipping charges on the category of product you've bought. We've settled on fixed costs per CD, vinyl, record bag etc. and you can consult them using the table below. All orders will be sent via First Class post in the UK (with additional, UK only options, for Recorded and Special Delivery) and via Small Packet Airmail for Europe and the Rest Of The World.
The costs of shipping your order will not appear in your basket until you go to the checkout and tell us which country you live in and where you want the goods delivered. Once you click 'Next' after entering your country of residence, any shipping charges incurred will then be shown on your order.
As mentioned earlier, we also offer a Special Delivery service (UK Only) which guarantees delivery before 1pm on the day following despatch. We wanted to keep this delivery option available to those of you in the UK but realised that the most straightforward way of doing it was based on the Total Weight of your order so we've got these tables to help you see what you're liable to pay...
For the sake of clarification, we should also explain why the shipping charges quoted in the above tables include VAT for the UK and EC deliveries; people often get confused and irritated by the addition of VAT on shipping when postal charges in the UK are normally 'zero-rated'. As a UK based supplier we have to include VAT on shipping as it's part of the service we're providing you in getting the goods to your door. We hope you understand this rather complicated issue but if you have any questions remember you can phone us on 0141 550 1919 or email us using the 'Contact Us' link.
Delivery Schedule We'll not hang about when your order comes in, striving whenever possible to despatch your order within 1 business day, next day delivery being the ultimate goal for the UK. As far as International orders are concerned, we would expect European orders to arrive within three days of despatch and for everywhere else in the world, 5 days is the standard.
1. Please make sure your address details are correct - we're great guys, but we can't be expected to resend an order to the correct address at our cost if it was your fault for getting it wrong in the first place!
2. Please let us know if your order hasn't arrived after a reasonable period of time.
Back Orders If your item is temporarily out of stock, we will back order for you ie. ship you one when we take delivery of new stock. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you're the impatient sort and would rather not wait (there's always one)...
We will keep you up to date with how long it will take for our stock to come back in - usually with CDs and Vinyl it takes 1 - 2 weeks; T-shirts and bags may take slightly longer...
Tax Charges As you know, tax is an exhilarating subject and a topic we could sit here and chat to you about for hours but unfortunately we're busy and don't have the time so we'll have to keep this short (and relatively simple). As a UK based supplier, we have to include VAT in the price of all the goods we ship to you (tangible goods and electronic downloads alike) under the following circumstances...
1. If you reside in the UK - you have to pay VAT on our goods (physical products, downloads AND the cost of shipping).
2. If you reside in the EC - you also have to pay VAT on our goods (physical products, downloads AND the cost of shipping).
If it helps, here are the countries that are considered to be 'EC Member States'...
If you live OUTWITH the UK and the EC member countries, then you don't have to pay VAT on any of our goods (physical products, downloads OR the cost of shipping) as you are outside the scope of UK (and EU) VAT.
Sorry to those of you in the UK and Europe but, in the words of Bruce Hornsby, that's just the way it is

When you've completed your checkout transaction, you'll be returned to our site where you will be shown a receipt for your purchase which will have links for any digital download products you may have purchased. You will also receive TWO emails:
1. A payment confirmation from Sage Pay - this will confirm the charge made to your card and that it has been proccessed successfully. It will not have a breakdown of your shopping cart contents: for that you'll need the second email...
2. An order confirmation from Chemikal Underground detailing what you've purchased (including any digital download links which will be valid for 24hrs).
If you choose to pay using the Paypal option you will be whisked off to Paypal's very own secure site to process payment.
