Rock Sound - September 2001 They've been pigeon-holed alongside Grandaddy and Will Haven, but Scottish exports Aereogramme are set to make a noise of their own - only without actually generating much of a racket. Their third EP, preceding the forthcoming debut album 'A Story In White', delves into sublime vocal sensitivity, slow-motion guitar windings and the occassional outburst of jagged riffery to produce an altogether refined and quietly majestic masterpiece. Shout about it, just not too loudly now. [4/5] NME - 11th August, 2001 Speaking of whom, here's another slab of Scottish indie stamped with the Chemikal Underground trademark of quality. Aereogramme are the latest from the conveyor belt of glum that brought us Arab Strap, the Delgados and Mogwai. Hardly surprising, then, that in such exalted company they are competent proponents of the art of speeding up, slowling down, being as quiet as little field mice before screeching like mad things. Thery do all of this on lead track 'Zionist Timing' in fact. Lovers of Sebadoh and related smug rock may purchase with confidence. JIM WIRTH |
