Single Of The Week
Word on the street has it that this is a little too "produced", that there should be a little more fuzz, a little more distortion, that the four songs here are too B-52's (that's an INSULT!?), not enough Rezillos, that the whole EXPLOSIVE Bis package has been sweetened too much, that Manda Rin and John Disco and Sci-Fi Steve are way more punk live, that there's too much popcorn, not enough pure pop, tha they sound a fraction too synthetic (IRONY!), a fraction too disco-boogie-wonderful (IRONY! IRONY!), that "Secret Vampires" isn't scary enough, that "Kandy Pop" could be way more urgent (HOW?!) and galactic-sounding, that "Teen-C Power" sounds, ooh, at least 17, that there's a little too much treble in the mix (so WHERE'S the insult?), but really...

infectious, fresh, brattish, gleeful, sparkly, sweet.

I've just heard Bis are gonna be playing "Top Of The Pops" next week. Yes! Yes! YES! Someone's getting the idea AT LAST! On one side: Northern Uproar, Cast, Shed Seven and all those other third-division Britpop dullards. On the other: Bis, Kenickie, the new Nation Of Ulysses generation.

How could this not be Single Of The Week?
