Our latest signings Panico should help boost our cosmopolitan credentials no end, hailing, as they do, from Santiago in Chile. Before you start thinking we've got talent scouts roaming the farthest flung corners of the globe, hitching a ride in beaten-up cadillacs to watch secret gigs in South American bodegas, Paul savage recorded their album in Franz Ferdinand's studio in Govan.
The band are all resident in Paris now, having crossed the Atlantic some years ago to pursue success on the multinational love-in we all refer to as Europe and, having toured all over the place with Franz Ferdinand (who are all enormous fans), wound up in the lads' Govan studios recording 'Kick' in the space of a week. So impressed were they by Mr Savage's sound desk sleight of hand, they asked him to go over to Chile to record a new project for them in the Chilean desert but because of those blasted Phantom Banders, Paul had to decline; no bad thing given that a devastating earthquake struck Chile at exactly the same time he'd have been over there. Panico, thankfully, were unscathed.
We're delighted to have them on board an this will hopefully be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship. Their last album 'Subliminal Kill', was released through French label Tigersushi and is well worth checking out if you get the chance.
