Miaoux Miaoux, aka Julian Corrie, is a Glasgow-based Londoner increasingly renowned for his preposterous ear for a tune and a deft hand when it comes to remixing. You may have heard his take on Human Don't Be Angry's 1985 or perhaps his work with Discopolis or Silver Columns. If not, you'll maybe stumble upon his work after he's completed the remix Belle & Sebastian asked him to do for them this summer.
Aside from his remix work, Miaoux Miaoux has a string of acclaimed singles, EPs and an album already under his belt which makes his arrival at Chemikal Underground and the subsequent delivery of Light of the North all the more exciting. Theres a stylistic restlessness at play here which, perhaps, could be the product of an itinerant youth (5 years in Peru and various spells around England before settling for the verdant outpost of Glasgow). More likely, its the result of a teenage 90s trance fixation which morphed into a love of breaks and samples, the alchemy of DJ Shadows Endtroducing... and the textured layering of Mogwais guitar and electronic collisions.
