NotesChemikal Underground had begun to revert back to the glamour of limited edition 7" singles by the time Arab Strap were ready to kick off their campaign for what would turn out to be their last studio album 'proper', The Last Romance. Dream Sequence was chosen as the lead track for the campaign on account of it being so effortlessly polished sounding and ripe for radio; we remained locked in a perennial struggle to alter the commonly held (and wholly incorrect) perception that Arab Strap were nothing but a bunch of moaning bastards and it was felt that Dream Sequence would strike people as being a change of tack for the band.
Trival fact: The video for this track was filmed in a Chem19 rehearsal room and stars Aidan, erstwhile drummer David Jeans, a friend of video director Ashley Waddell who's name has been lost to the sands of time and the hands and feet of Malcolm Middleton who fucking hates being filmed and didn't want his face in the video. Fair play to him... |
